Tata Capital Financial Services Ltd (TCFSL) plans to raise up to Rs 7,000 crore via bonds to support growth even as efforts for its merger, along with that of Tata Cleantech Capital, with parent Tata Capital Ltd (TCL) are underway in the current financial year.
TCFSL, which is into retail, SME, and corporate funding posted 32.03 per cent year-on-year growth in assets to Rs 78,499 crore at end of March 2023. Its capital adequacy ratio was 17.3 per cent with tier-1 level of 13 per cent. Its parent TCL had infused funds of Rs 1,150 crore in the form of equity shares into TCFSL during the second half of the 2023 fiscal year.

The two subsidiaries are Tata Capital Forex, which provides services related to foreign exchange, and TC Travel and Services, which provides travel services. Established in 2007, Tata Capital is a unit of Tata Sons. It offers consumer finance, advisory services, commercial finance, infrastructure finance, investment banking, private equity advisory and credit card distribution. The two companies together operate in 24 locations across India.

Tata Capital to sell foreign exchange service to Thomas Cook

The gearing remains relatively moderate and the Group may need external capital to maintain prudent capitalization levels if the portfolio growth in FY2023 continues to exceed the internal capital generation, which is improving but remains moderate.

In FY2022, on a consolidated basis, TCL reported a profit after tax of Rs. 1,801 crores compared to Rs. 1,245 crores in FY2021.

The issuer has made timely interest payments.

TCL is a majority-owned subsidiary of TSL, it enjoys strong financial and operational support from TSL, which, in the past, has included access to capital, management and systems, and supervision by a strong board

The loan book is fairly diversified across various products in wholesale and retail lending

The Tata Capital Group enjoys good financial flexibility, being a part of the Tata Group, with access to funds at competitive rates of interest from various sources.

With the pickup in collections post Q1 FY2022, the asset quality improved on an aggregate basis in FY2022 with the GS3 and the net stage 3 (NS3) improving to 1.9% and 0.6%, respectively, as on March 31, 2022 from 2.5% and 0.9%, respectively, as on March 31, 2021.
