A bidder who will offer the highest revenue share will be awarded the contract for a specific site.

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) has issued a tender for the comprehensive operation and maintenance of 40 MW ground-mounted solar projects over a span of three years.These projects, each with a capacity of 10 MW, are situated at Tail Race Canal in Haptiagachh (Uttar Dinajpur), along the Teesta Canal Bank in Uttar Dinajpur, in Salboni (Paschim Medinipur), and at Khemasuli (Patni) in Medinipur.

The company has defaulted in payment against the Government Guaranteed Pension Trust Bond 2016 to the extent of Rs.516.00 crores as on March 31, 2020. As per the management, The Government Guaranteed Pension Trust Bond was raised by West Bengal State Electricity Board. 

WBSEDCL is exposed to regulatory risk associated with delay in receipt of tariff order and non-allowance of expenses by the Commission.

The operational efficiency of WBSEDCL has been mired by the high level of distribution losses over the years. The same remain ed higher than the normative levels mainly due to legacy distribution infrastructure and execution of massive rural electrification schemes of State and Central Government.

With a large urban/ semi urban profile of the license area, WBSEDCL has a favorable consumption mix with high tariff segments.

WBPDCL is the main power generation utility of West Bengal, company majorly purchases power from the state utility, WBPDCL, which accounted for about 46% of the total power purchase.
